Although most court systems have civil procedure rules such as the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, or the Cvil Practice Rules, there will usually be both Local Rules promulagated by a particular court or judicial disctrict, or additional rules promulgated by the judge.  Those rules are usually published by the local court.  Similarly there may be some additional local practices not described in the rules – ranging from arcana suchg as styles of dress to what is allowed in pleadings, word limits, etc.  It is crucial when acting in an unfamiliar court to determine these local rules and practices.
