Digital Services Act

A EU law promulgated in 2022 regulating aspects of Internet content and in particular seeking to prohibit and require Internet based businesses, particularly social media to moderate that content to prevent misinformation, illegal content and deceptive or concealed advertising – it applies to Internet platforms defined as “very large,” i.e., platforms with more than 45 million users in the EU. It is backed by potential fines of up to 6% on their global annual turnover plus 5% of the average daily worldwide turnover for each day of delay in complying with remedies, interim measures, and commitments.
