Big-Book Application

A patent application strategy used by startup technology companies who have an array of useful technology of potentially broad application, but are uncertain which direction the business will take and are consequently uncertain as to where to focus their patenting efforts. It consists of filing a single massive omnibus disclosure with a patent office and then using it to provide the basis for multiple divisional applications as the commercial direction of the business and commercial value of the inventions in the “big book” becomes clear.
