Apple-Polishing

Refers to an activity designed to make a product, service or other item look good, but that delivers no meaningful benefit. The apple fruits skin contains natural waxes plus shippers often add a wax to help preserve apples – this wax can be rendered shiny by rubbing with a soft cloth, rendering the apple more attractive, but with no impact on the taste or nutritional value of the apple.
