The European Patent Office has a system of boards of appeal to which decisions of the EPO can be appealed. There are several boards of appeal including the enlarged board of appeals; the Legal Board of Appeals (points of law); Technical Boards of Appeal (mixed issues of technology and law); and the Disciplinary Board of Appeal. The Enlarged Board of Appeals is in effect an appellate board from the Legal, Technical, and Disciplinary boards.
