De Novo Appeal, Trial, Review

Refers to an appellate review or retrial where all the facts determined by an original court or agency are tried and established again, rather than presumed to be established. De novo review usually provides the highest likelihood of reversing a prior ruling. See Standard of Review, Appellate. De novo appeals and review are rare in US and common law legal systems but fairly common in code based legal systems.
