Class, Trademark

Trademarks are divided into classes of goods or services—thus trademark applicants must state what category of products, e.g., cosmetics, they wish the trademark to be granted for. Any subsequent application for the same mark in the same class would presumptively give rise to a risk of confusion and would normally be denied.
